Governor to address Belgaum Legislature session on Sep 25

Bangalore, Sep 15 (UNI) Karnataka Governor T N Chaturvedi will deliver the inaugural address of the four-day special Winter session of the Legislature at Belgaum on September 25, Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy informed today.

Speaking to newspersons here, he said he had met the Governor earlier in the day and formally invited him to address the joint session, to which the Governor had consented.

The Chief Minister said there was a popular demand to hold the Legislature session at Belgaum for the last four decades and the wishes of the people have materialised now. ''I had also promised the people of the Belgaum district during my visit there recently and I am fulfilling it now,'' he added.

It may be recalled that the Karnataka Cabinet, in its last meeting, had decided to convene a special winter session of the Legislature in Belgaum in the last week of September. The State Government had also decided to hold the second World Kannada Literary Conference in Belgaum to commemorate the 50th year of the State's formation.
