Girl children benefited during last seven years in Tripura

Agartala, Sep 15 (UNI) The Balika Samridhi Yojna has benefited about 25,588 girl children in Tripura from 1998 to 2005 with 9748 benefited during 2004-05 alone, official sources here today said.

About 800 such children were brought under the scheme after it was introduced during 1997-98, sources said.

Around Rs 1292500 was spent during the financial year 1998-99 which was further increased to Rs 1692500 during 1999-200 benefiting at least 3385 girl children.

During 2004-05 the scheme provided financial help of Rs 48 lakh to 9748 people, however, the (BSY) scheme is not meant to provide financial help to onyone other than the girl child, the sources added.
