Four persons, including three of a family, hacked to death
Bangalore, Sep 15 (UNI) Four people, including three of a family, were hacked to death in the city in the last 24 hours.
Gnanabharati police said three persons were attacked with a sickle, killing them on the spot, in Rajarajeshwari Nagar this morning, allegedly by their neighbour. The incident occurred when a couple, identified as Ravishankar and Pushpalatha, came out of their house to go to work. The assailant attacked them and when the woman's mother, Sharadamma, came to their rescue, she too was fatally attacked.
Police were on the look out for the accused whose entire family was at large. Dispute over a house site was said to be the reason for the crime. City Police Commissioner N Achyuta Rao and other top police officials visited the spot.
In another incident, two youths allegedly murdered a 83-year-old woman, Lakshmamma, by slitting her throat and made away with gold ornaments and cash worth Rs 4.5 lakh here last night. However, in a quick reaction, police nabbed both the culprits within hours of the crime.
Vayalikaval police said 20-year-old Ramu of Pavagada, working in the victim's house till recently, had plotted the murder with the help of his 22-year-old friend. In the early hours, police nabbed the duo, who were moving around suspiciously in a nearby area and seized the gold and cash.
