Former K'taka Minister Havanur dies of heart attack
Bangalore, Sep 15 (UNI) Legal luminary and former Karnataka Minister L G Havanur died of a heart attack here this morning.
He was 82. He is survived by his wife, four daughters and three sons.
Prof Havanur was the Chairman of first Backward Classes Commission, constituted during the tenure of the late Chief Minister D Devaraj Urs in 1975. His report was implemented after two years when he was the Law Minister. He also held four other important portfolios in the state cabinet.
He played a key role in preparing the draft of the Constitution of South Africa in 1991.
Prof Havanur leaves behind scores of his followers mainly in the legal profession, many of whom have attained top positions in the field.
