Five bookies held

Ujjain, MP, Sep 15 (UNI) Five bookies have been arrested for allegedly placing bets and thirteen mobile phones seized from them, police said today.

''The bookies were nabbed yesterday while placing bets during the ongoing one-day international between India and West Indies being played in Malaysia,'' District Superintendent of Police Jaideep Prasad said.

He said the register seized from the bookies revealed that they had received bets worth several lakhs of rupees during the Football World Cup earlier this year.

The documents revealed that the accused had received bets worth Rs 50 lakhs.
