Expedite plan scehmes: Rangasamy
Pondicherry, Sep 15 (UNI) Pondicherry Chief Minister N Rangasamy today asked the secretaries and senior officials to expedite the plan schemes in order to utilise the entire plan allocation for the year.
The Chief Minister putforth this while presiding over the annual plan review meeting here.
The Chief Minister was informed that of the Rs 1410 crore allocated for the year, Rs 256.12 crore amounting to 29.7 per cent was spent by the end of August. Because of the assembly elections and local body polls, plan schemes could not be expedited. He was also informed that of the Rs 925 crore allocated last year, Rs 916 crore that is 99 per cent was spent.
Mr Rangasamy exhorted the officials to take steps for infrastructure development with the coordinated efforts of PWD, Electricity and Local Administration departments and also steps to attract tourists and entrepreneurs to Pondicherry, besides filling up all the vacant posts.
Ponting out that ''India Today'' had adjudged Pondicherry as the number one among small states, Mr Rangasamy thanked all those responsible for this and appealed to them to strive hard to keep this in future also.
Ministers Valsaraj and Shajahan, Chief Secretary Pradeep Mehra, IGP Mr Meena, Secretaries and head of the departments, were among others, who attended the meeting.
