Essar inks manufacturing deal with German co
New Delhi, Sep 15 (UNI) In its foray into wind power, Essar today said it has inked an agreement with Germany-based Repower AG for the design and manufacture of 1.5 and 2 MW wind turbines and its marketing South East Asia.
The two corporations have agreed to set up a joint venture soon which will allow access to 3 MW and 5 MW turbines.
The agreement comes at a time when there is a huge demand for power in India and it also fits in perfectly with our strategy of diversifying into renewable energy sources,'' Director, Essar Power, Ansuman Ruia said.
The wind turbine technology is widely accepted for usage in Europe for generation of power. REpower's 1.5 MW turbine installations in Germany operate with an average availability of 99 per cent which well suites with Indian conditions.
The location would be at a port, which is yet to be finalised.
