CPM joins BJP in opposing PTA scheme in HP
Shimla, Sep 15 (UNI) The Himachal Pradesh unit of the CPM has joined the state BJP in opposing the appointment of teachers under the Parent Teachers Association (PTA) scheme, saying people close to Congress party were being appointed teachers violating every constitutional norm.
''The PTA scheme is in total violation of the reservation roaster, which provides reservation in jobs for SCs, STs, OBCs and ex servicemen,'' party's state secretariat member Onkar Shad and Tikender Singh Panwar said in a release here.
Accusing the state government of ignoring the claims of meritorious youth from being appointed teachers under the scheme, they said only youth with connections to the Congress Party were being appointed.
The CPM leaders said the scheme was being implemented to help the relatives and friends of high ups, besides ignoring the seniority of teachers appointed on regular basis.
The government should appoint regular teachers and stop this stopgap arrangement, which was ''detrimental to quality education'', they said.
