CPI(M) to oppose Liberation day celebrations
Gulbarga, Sep 15 (UNI) The CPI(M) will oppose the yderabad-Karnataka region Liberation day celebrations, to be attended by Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy and Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa on September 17 here.
Addressing a press conference here today, party State Secretariat member Maruthi Manapade alleged that some communal forces were trying to make use of the Liberation day celebrations. It was nothing, but a way recalling the past unfortunate incidents and could incite a section of the people, he felt.
Appealing to Mr Kumaraswamy and Mr Yediyurappa not to participate in the event, he said the CPI(M) would organise protests against the celebrations.
The CPI(M) also took exception to the participation of Prince Fazal, son of 17th Nizam Mir-Ushaman-Alikhan.
It may be recalled that the BSP had yesterday opposed the celebration.
