Centre to allocate Rs 442 cr for housing in AP
Hyderabad, Sep 15 (UNI) The Union Government will allocate Rs 442 crore for housing under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) to Andhra Pradesh.
The State Level Steering Committee (SLSC) meeting of the JNNURM, which met here recommended the detailed project report for constructing 30,320 houses of which 15,320 houses alloted to Visakhapatnam and 15,000 houses to Vijayawada municipal corporation.
The total cost of the project was Rs 442 crore and it would be sanctioned soon.
Participating in the meeting, Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, who is also the Chairman of SLSC, said water supply and sewerage projects for 23 municipalities at a cost of Rs 578 crore was approved by the Centre under the Urban Infrstructure Development Scheme for Small and Medium Towns (UIDSSMT) coming under JNNURM.
He said the amount would be released from the Centre shortly, an official release here said.
