Bush admn responsible for increase in terrorism: Gowda

Bangalore, Sep 15 (UNI) Former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda today alleged that the Bush administration in the United States and its allies, who bandied about the concept of Islamic or Jehadi terrorism, were responsible for fuelling terrorism in the world.

In a statement here, Mr Gowda, who visited Malegaon, said the country's approach in tackling terrorism need not be guided by any Western line. Rather, it should deal with the situation with its own ideals, he added.

He said terrorism had no religion and there were many insurgent and separatist groups both in India and abroad belonging to different faiths. Hence, the answer did not lie in waging a war against followers of any particular religion.

''I share the pain and agony of the people of Malegaon. They deserve full credit for maintaining peace and communal harmony. They have successfully foiled the nefarious designs of the enemies of the nation. The time has come for the entire nation to fight unitedly the scrouge of terrorism with determination,'' Mr Gowda said.

He demanded that those behind the gruesome attacks, irrespective of their religious and political affiliations, be tracked down, brought to book and sternly dealth with so that a strong message was sent across to the perpetrators of such crimes against humanity.
