BJP leader O P Babbar condoles death of 20-year-old girl
New Delhi, Sep 15 (UNI) Delhi BJP leader O P Babbar today condoled the death of a 20-year-old girl who allegedly jumped to her death from the CBSE building in East Delhi yesterday after she failed in the class X exam for the third time, particularly in Mathematics.
In a statement here, Mr Babbar demanded that Mathematics be made an optional subject.
''All the students are not cut out for Mathematics. The subject may be made optional,''he said adding that the students have to remain at the mercy of schools teachers or tutors because parents are unable to teach modern Mathematics to them.
Khushboo had repeatedly failed her Class 10th exam since 2004, following which she was depressed and which perhaps led her to this extreme step.
In her suicide note, found in her bag, Khusboo said she was disturbed over her failure in Class 10th, whose paper was too lengthy and could not be completed in the alloted three hours.
Reflecting on the rise in the number of incidents of youngsters committing suicide by jumping from high-rise buildings, Mr Babbar said the security aspects in high rise buildings had been ignored.
''Police and Fire brigade should take care of this security aspect to reduce the possibility of frustrated people committing suicide from high-rise buildings,''he said.
