Bail matters of VIPs heard in Patna High court
Patna, Sep 15 (UNI) The Patna high Court today granted regular bail to Congress leader and former minister of Bihar Sanjay Singh and Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) member Shivbalak Choudhry, while the anticipatory bail application of RJD MP Sadhu Yadav remained inconclusive.
A single bench of the court of Justice Subhash Chandra Jha granted regular bail to Sanjay Singh in connection with a massacre in Sheikhpura district. Singh, husband of Congress MLA Sunila Devi and son of the late noted Congress leader Rajo Singh, has been languishing in Sheikhpura jail since 2002. Two other accused of the same massacre were also granted bail.
Late Rajo Singh too was a named accused of the massacre and had been jailed in this connection but was released on bail. Rajo Singh later was gunned down on September 9, 2005 in front of his house in Sheikhpura.
As per allegations Mr Singh along with ten others had killed nine people on Sheikhpura- Barbigha main road on December 26, 2001.
Another single bench of the court of justice Mridula Mishra granted regular bail to BPSC member Sivbalak Choudhry in connection with the merit scam. Mr Choudhry had been charged with irregularities in holding BPSC examinations.
A court of justice Mr Navin Sinha carrying forward the hearing on the anticipatory bail of Sadhu Yadav directed the state government to file an affidavit regarding criminal antecedents and security provided to him by the government. The matter would be heard again on Monday. Mr Yadav had been alleged with tampering the elections of Block Pramukh in Gopalganj district on June 29 this year.
