Army convoy attacked, one soldier killed

Srinagar, Sep 15 (UNI) An Army personal was killed and seven others were injured when militants attacked an army convoy in north Kashmir.

Elsewhere in Jammu and Kashmir, a militant was killed and five members of a family and two soldiers injured while security forces busted two hideouts overnight.

A defence ministry spokesman said militants attacked the convoy with automatic weapons at Watergam on Baramulla-Handwara road in north Kashmir this afternoon.

He said four soldiers were injured in the attack. Two of the critically wounded were airlifted and admitted to base hospital where one of them died.

A police press release issued this evening said eight soldiers were injured in the attack.

A Baramulla report said 30 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) have launched a massive search operation in the entire area to nab the militants responsible for the attack.

The convoy was on way to Baramulla from Handwara when it was attacked.
