Arms haul case: 6 industries raided, 14 secured
Chennai, Sep 14 (UNI) In a significant breakthrough, the 'Q' Branch Police tonight raided the premises of six industries which had allegedly manufactured rocket launchers that were seized in Andhra Pradesh last week and secured 14 people for interrogation.
Police told UNI that the Q Branch Police had zeroed in on the place which was occupied by the alleged kingpin Sreenivasa Reddy, who was later found as living in the name of Rakhu in one of the places.
Acting on the information, the Q Branch Police, which was probing the arms haul case secured 14 people working in six industries in Mannurpet, Padi and Korattur area. They were being questioned in connection with the case.
Police sources confirmed that at least eight people were secured for interrogation and four of them were being detained at Ambattur.
They were being questioned by a special team of police headed by the Deputy Commissioner of Police.
It may be recalled that following the seizure of huge cache of rocket launchers and ammunitions in Andhra Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh police had said the arms were manufactured in Tamil Nadu and assembled in different places.
As the issue gained momentum, the Andhra Pradesh Director General of Police had visited the state and held discussions with senior police officials here.
Based on the discussion, police tonight conducted raid and secured 14 people for interrrogation.
