Andhra Bank employees resort to dharna

Vijayawada, Sept 15: Expressing solidarity with the all India agitation, about 100 employees of the Vijayawada zone of Andhra Bank Employees Federation (ABEF) today resorted to day-long dharna in front of the bank's zonal office here.

The ABEF, affiliated to the Bank Employees' Federation of India which represents employees in clerical, sub-ordinate and class four cadre, demanded to resolve the long-pending demands of employees.

Inaugurating the dharna, CPM state committee member Ch Babu Rao urged the management to implement the Workers Act.

ABEF general secretary B Ashok Kumar demanded the management to take up the recruitment of clerical posts immediately.

The agaitators also protested against the move of outsourcing the works which were hither to performed by the regular employees.
