25,588 benefited during last seven years in the state

Agartala, Sep 15: The Balika Samridhi Yojna has benifited about 25,588 female child in Tripura in the last seven years from 1998 to 2005 with 9748 benefited only during the 2004-05, official sources here today said.

About 800 such children were brought under the scheme after it was introduced during 1997-98, sources said.

Around Rs 12 lakh 92 thousand 500 were spent during 1998-99 financial year which further increased to Rs 16 lakh 92 thousand 500 during 1999-200 benefiting at least 3385 female childrens.

During the 2004-05 the scheme provided financial help of Rs 48 lakh to 9748 persons, however, the (BSY) scheme is not meant to provide financial help to any one other than female child, the sources added.
