Punjab Schools Cricket for Parle Cup from Nov 14

Chandigarh, Sep 14 (UNI) As many as 30 teams will take part in the Punjab Inter-School Cricket Tournament for boys Under-17 from November 14 to 29 in two phases.

Addressing a press conference at the PCA Stadium here today, Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) secretary M P Pandove and P N Shankaran of Procam International said that in the first phase the matches would be played at six districts from November 14 to 20. The winners of each participating district of the state will then assemble for the final phase to be conducted in Mohali and Chandigarh from November 23 to 29.

The six teams will be divided into two groups and they play on a league basis. The top two teams in each group will qualify for the semi finals.

The winning team will then qualify for the All-India Parle Cup.

DAV Senior Secondary School, Sector 8 Chandigarh were the runners-up in the last edition while Rizvi School of Mumbai were champions.

Mr Pandove, who is also joint secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said that competitions would be conducted at Patiala, Ludhiana, Amritsar, Jalandhar, Chandigarh and Mohali.
