Mizoram to start adventure sports
Aizawl, Sep 14 (UNI) To boost various sports activities and attract more foreign tourists in Mizoram the state government has decided to establish some new adventurous sports across the state.
Inaugurating the first ever artificial wall climbing here today the sports minister Z H Ropuia said '' We are going to attract the tourists by promoting sports like mountaineering and river rafting at various places.'' Artificial wall climbing sports have made its mark for the first time in the state with the first artificial rock wall being set up by the sports ministry.
State Sports department director Zoliana Royte said the Rs 22 lakh enterprise of an international standard is 52 feet high, 8 feet wide with an area of 75 square meters.
The department for the first time would be sending around 20 participants on September 18 to participate in the North-East championship, who would further represent the state at the national level competition to be held in December, he added.
