Achuthanandan calls on ailing CPM MLA at hospital

Kochi, Sep 14 (UNI) Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan today called on the ailing CPM MLA Mathai Chacko, who is on ventilator support at the Lakeshore Hospital here.

Mr Achuthanandan, accompanied by State Fisheries Minister S Sarma, was in the hospital for about 20 minutes. He met the family members of the ailing MLA, who is suffering from cancer.

Mr Chacko, who had wrested the Thiruvambadi seat from the IUML in the assembly elections earlier this year, was sworn in as MLA in his Lakeshore Hospital room in May.

His condition has deteriorated in recent days and he is now on ventilator support.
