VIA launches world's first ero carbon processor for PCs
New Delhi, Sep 13 (UNI) Leading chip maker VIA Technologies today unveiled world's first carbon free VIA C7-D processor for the personal computers.
''These days, manufacturing companies are focusing on 'carbon footprint'-- a measure of amount of carbon dioxide. The man-made global warming greenhouse gas are released in atmosphere through everything one does including using computers,'' VIA Technologies Vice President (Marketing) Richard Brown said.
Reducing power consumption is major step towards curbing it, Mr Brown added.
The eco-friendly processor consumes maximum power of 20W only at 1.8GHz, thereby setting the benchmark for performance-per-watt operation.
The chip enables power savings through the use of smaller power supplies and cooling fans.
With the launch of the VIA C7-D processor, VIA is introducing a new system-- TreeMark -- which is a useful tool for organisations looking to balance environmental impact in their computing purchase decisions.
