UP govt preparing to hold local body polls
Lucknow, Sep 14 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh government is preparing to hold the crucial local bodies elections in the state before the 2007 assembly polls.
Chief minister Mulayam Singh Yadav today held a meeting with his ministerial colleagues at his official residence and apprised them about the government's intension.
During his 90 minute close door chat with his ministers, Mr Yadav told them to be ready for the urban local bodies poll.
Earlier, a division bench of the Allahabad High Court had directed the state government to file an affadavit on September 22 specifying when the state government is prepared to hold the local bodies poll.
The CM also directed the ministers to be present along with all the party MLAs as well as those of the allied parties in the assembly which will reconvene tomorrow.
The government is also contemplating moving another vote of confidence as it did during the earlier session.
During the meeting, the leaders also dicussed the political situation in the state with the CM asking all the ministers to educate the people about the achievements of the government in the past three years.
