Two youth killed in attack over petty quarrel

Tiruchirapalli, Sep 13: Two youth were killed and seven others, including three women, were injured following a tussle between two families over a petty quarrel at Varageneri area here.

According to police, a wordy duel erupted when bubbles of soap foam from the clothes washed by a 21-year-old youth Prakash Sebastian at a public tap accidently sprinkled on the pot of a woman Senthil Vadivu fetching water from the tap last night.

The trouble took an ugly turn when a relative of the woman Dinesh Babu (22) reprimanded Sebastian.

Enraged over the incident, Sebastian carrying a weapon went to Dinesh Babu's house when other family members were asleep and attacked Dinish Babu, his mother Poongotai (42), brothers Jegan Babu (29) and Rahul Gandhi (19).

Retaliating, the brothers of Dinish Babu went to Sebastian's house and attacked him, his mother John Mary (50), sister Kamala (26) and two others. In the attack, Sebasatian suffered grievous injuries and died on the spot.

Dinish Babu, who was seriously injured died at the government headquarters hospital here where seven people, including three women from both the familes were admitted.

Police pickets were posted in the area to prevent untoward incidents, police added.
