TSEC to import additional power
Agartala, Sep 13 (UNI) Tripura State Electricity Corporation (TSEC) Ltd. has approached Mizoram and Meghalaya governments to ensure smooth power supply during the Durga Puja celebrations.
''We have approached both the Governments for additional power supply and they have given their consent for supplying additional power of about 40 mw during the festival period,'' TSEC Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) Dipak Ganguly said.
The peak hour demand of power during the festival period would be around 160 Mega Watt (MW) as estimated by engineers.
The TSEC would have to bear additonal Rs 40 lakh for procuring additonal power from Meghalaya and Mizoram, he said adding that the corporation has also geared up to increase own generation to mitigate the power shortage.
''One more 21 mw unit at Rokhia will be operational before Durga Puja, which will definitely increase the state's own generation,'' he said.
He informed that the TSEC would leave no stone unturned to check power theft.
