TDP leader hits out at Cong Govt
Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, Sep 13 (UNI) Senior Telugu Desam Party (TDP) Leader and Former State Finance Minister Y Ramakrishnudu today lashed out at the Congress Government for constantly blaming the TDP for its alleged failure to redeem the 2004 election pledges.
Speaking to reporters here, Mr Ramakrishnudu pooh-poohed the government's claim it was spending huge amounts on agriculture and irrigation.
He claimed the agriculture sector's contribution to the state economy had declined by 1.5 per cent since the Congress assumed office in the state in May 2004.
The TDP leader alleged the government's irrigation policy could prove harmful to the Krishna Delta in the Coastal Andhra Pradesh He also charged Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy with being parochial.
'Dr Reddy is behaving like the Chief Minister of Kadapa District,' Mr Ramakrishnudu added.
He sarcastically observed Andhra Pradesh was a 'model state in corruption and land scams' and described the government's proposal to divert Godavari water to River Krishna as technically not feasable and economically impractical.
'It's a mirage,' he remarked.
