TADA to decide on Zaveri blast accused tom
Mumbai, Sep 13: TADA court at Mumbai will tomorrow decide the fate of Zaveri Bazaar blast accused Mohamed Shoaib Mohammed Kasam Ghansar, who is listed as accused number nine in the CBI list furnished to the court.
The court had yesterday decided the fate of eight serial blasts accused, all members of the Memon family who had masterminded the blasts.
Ghansar, who is lodged at Arthur Road Jail, since the day of his arrest in 1993, had planted bombs in a scooter and parked it in Zaveri Bazaar in South Mumbai. In the blasts, 17 people were killed, 57 injured and property worth Rs 1.2 crore was destroyed.
He was named by one of the approvers during his deposition in the court and also identified by the prosecution witness during an identification parade held at the court room.
Ghansar, one of the prime accused, was charged under section 3 (3), 3(2) (I) of the TADA Act and section 326, 302 and 436 of the Indian Penal Code and also charged under sections 3, 4 (a) (b) of the Explosives Substance Act.
