A cricket match in Mahuda village, 15 km from Nadiad, in Kheda district, had turned communal and two brothers, Kirti alias Kario Dineshbhai Parmar and Bhavin alias Kadio Dinesh Parmar, were killed on November 11, 2002.

Judge A S Verma awarded life terms to Sarfraz alias Dadu Habibullah Sheikh, Mohd. Anees Mallick, Amanullah alias Fauzi Nabimia Sheikh, Riyadh alias Gottio Sarfumia Sheikh, Ataullah Khan Chottekhan Pathan and Farid Khan alias Usmankhan Pathan.

The court, however, acquitted three others -- Javed Kanubhai Kalifah, Mohd Rafiq Kalumia Mallick and Kamil Hussein alias Bhurio Ghulam Rasool -- for lack of sufficient evidence against them.
