Second explosives haul in Nashik in 3 days

Nashik, Sept 13: Two days after recovery and successful defusion of a packet containing gelatin and detonators, police today recovered another box of explosives and a revolver from a house in the city.

The box recovered from the apartment of one Wasim Saiyed in Rajsarthi Housing Society at Indira Nagar in the city yielded eleven gelatin sticks, five detonators, one revolver and two live cartridges, a police official said.

The seizure was made on a tip-off provided by a man detained after a packet containing 12 gelatin sticks and detonators by an 8-year-old boy on Monday.

Found abandoned in front of a hospital at Mirajkar ground on Nagji-Wadala road on Mumbai-Agra highway, the improvised explosive device (IED) with a timer was concealed in a plastic bag.

When alerted, police bomb disposal squad defused the bomb and averted a possible tragedy.
