Rs 36 crore sought for Mandya Sugar plant's revival
Bangalore, Sep 13 (UNI) The Karnataka Government has been sought Rs 36 crore for the revival of the State-owned Mandya Sugar Plant, which is in the red with Rs 285 crore deficit, Karnataka Transport and Mandya district incharge Minister N Chaluvarayaswamy informed today.
Addressing newspersons here, he said the Mandya Sugar Plant, the only State-run sugar factory in the State, was all set to generate 30 MW of power and exuded confidence that the factory would see turnaround in a couple of years.
The Minister said that to wipe off the huge deficit, the State Government was taking many initiatives and there was a proposal to dispose off the property of the sugar plant in a prime place here.
To a question, he said that for the current season, the factory administration had fixed the procurement price for sugarcane from farmers at Rs 1,100 per tonne and the factory owed no dues to ryots.
