Govt, Mgts arrive at consensus on medical college fee
Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 13 (UNI) Putting an end to uncertainty over the fee structure for government quota seats in self-financing professional colleges, the Kerala Government and Self-Financing Medical College Management Association have reached an agreement for the current academic year in this regard.
At the end of a marathon talks with Education Minister M A Baby, which started in the morning, the Management Association today agreed to collect government fees in 50 per cent seats and in the remaining 50 per cent in management quota, the fees would be fixed by the Justice K T Thomas Commission.

As per the agreement, which would be signed later, Rs 12,225 would be the fee for government seats, while it would be Rs 1.13 lakh for the management quota for MBBS course.
The fees in the subsequent years would be decided by the Fees Regulatory Commission.
Taking note of the Supreme Court order on cross subsidy, it was decided the surplus fee would be given as scholarships to the students.
