Governor concerned over price rise

Shillong, Sep 13 (UNI) Meghalaya Governor M M Jacob today instructed Chief Minister J.D.Rymbai to look into the exorbitant rise in prices of commodities in the state.

In the letter, Mr Jacob also expressed his concern over the harassment and intimidation from various arbitrary toll collections by private parties, to whom the toll gates have been leased at several places along the National Highway.

The arbitrary toll collection along the National Highway has been a major factor in the spurt of prices of essentials and other commodities in Shillong market, the governor said.
