Fly-ash collection system in VSP commissioned

Visakhapatnam, Sep 13: The fly-ash collection system of boiler one of the captive thermal power plant in Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) was commissioned today.

An official release here said the Rs three crore project was implemented to meet the demand of dry fly-ash, a glassy material having better cementing properties, which could be used in the manufacture of building materials like pozzlolana cement, fal-g bricks, among other items.

The VSP also took up a survey on the use of fly-ash and blast furnace slag together in construction activities like roads where hard strata was needed.

The VSP and the Simhadri Thermal power plant of National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) in the district was a major producer of fly-ash, the release added.
