Farmer commits suicide in Idukki

Idukki, Sep 13 (UNI) A 62 year-old debt stricken farmer Maprathekken Kanjikuzhi, allegedly committed suicide in the Kanjikuzhi police station limits in Idukki district of Kerala this morning.

Police said Kanjikuzhi poured kerosene on his body and immolated himself. He is survived by his wife Devaki and four children.

Four years ago, he had reportedly taken a loan of Rs 30,000 from the Thodupuzha Kaarshika Bhoovikasana Bank. The loan swelled to Rs 75,000, police said.
