DF Govt failed in handling Babhli dam issue: Munde
Nanded, Maharashtra, Sep 13 (UNI) Senior BJP leader Gopinath Munde today charged the Democratic Front (DF) Government for its failure in restoring construction work of the Babhli dam, which has been stopped after Andhhra Pradesh Government raised objections.
Addressing a news conference here today, the former Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister said that the state government had failed to pursue the issue with the Centre, as a result of which the construction work has been halted at the site on the directives of the Centre.
Mr Munde, who is on a tour of flood-affected areas under his ''Goda Parikrama'', said he would extend every support to the State Government for pursuing the matter with the Centre since the dam, once construced, would provide over 800 TMC water to the economically backward region of central Maharashtra.
The BJP leader alleged that the Andhra Pradesh Government had exerted pressure upon the Centre to stop construction of the Babhli dam.
Mr Munde visited the Sangam village in the district which was badly affected by the flood and demanded complete rehabilitation of the village.
