Chander Mohan hails SEZ project in Haryana

Chandigarh, Sep 13 (UNI) Diferring with his brother Bhiwani MP Kuldip Bishnoi, Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan today strongly hailed the agreement between the State government and the Reliance Industries for a multi-crore Special Economic Zone project as a step in the right direction.

Addressing a "meet-the press" programme here, he dismissed as "ill-founded" the speculations that the ambitious project would not generate enough employment and revenue for the Government and asserted that ''the agreement was a right step as it would benefit the people of Haryana.'' "I was present when the agreement was signed", he added.

When asked that his brother Kuldeep Bishnoi, MP, had expressed his reservations about the SEZ, a joint venture between Reliance Industries Ltd and Haryana State Industrial Development Corporation, Mr Chander Mohan said Mr Bishnoi was entitled to have his own opinion in the matter. "It is not necessary that there is one opinion on an issue", he added.

Mr Bishnoi, criticising the agreement, had sought information about the project, including the Government's equity in it, under the Right to Information Act.

"My brother is wise and also a Member of Parliament. Perhaps certain points of the agreement are not clear to him", Mr Chander Mohan said.

Referring to the alleged "surveillance" at his Panchkula residence by police, the Deputy Chief Minister said it was a misunderstanding which was later cleared. His security personnel had caught a police constable near the residence last month for allegedly keeping surveillance at the Deputy Chief Minister.

Mr Chander Mohan said that alleged molestation of a minor school girl by the Director of the school at Hisar yesterday is being probed and the guilty would be punished.

Replying to another question, Mr Chander Mohan said he was in favour of the proposal for a separate Gurdawara management body in Haryana.

"This is our poll promise and I stand by it", he stressed.
