Centre to setup software tech park in Mizoram

Aizawl, Sep 13: Information Technology Ministry in the Centre has chalked out a blue-print for setting up Software Technology Park of India (STPI) in Mizoram.

It was revealed in a review meeting of Community Information Centres (CIC) by the task force committee headed by the secretary D S Mathur from IT Ministry, Government of India.

Further adding shape to STPI project, Debajit Sarma, Asst Director STPI, Asom, was already sent as an envoy by the Government of India to Mizoram for inspecting the building offered for the establishment of STPI by the state government.

According to the project details, the STPI will include an earth station which will serve as an international gateway hooking up with Intel satellite.

The STPI will be established with bandwidth availability on demand and with no last-mile problem, it would also disperse a seamless connectivity while at the same time act as facilitator for developing secondary cities.

The main objective is to promote small and medium scale entrepreneurs.

Lalrodingi, Project Director IT under the state Industries department said, ''We are happy to learn that STPI will soon be here. Our department is ready to help and give all support to any IT developer in or from outside our country.'' According to the plans, the Department of Information Technology has so far created 41 STPI in the country and Mizoram will have 42.

Growing side by side with the great Indian economy, these STPI units have generated revenue to the tune of Rs 11,000 crores which has exceeded the projected revenue of Rs 10,000 crores.
