Ashwani Kumar nominated to PM's HLCM

New Delhi, Sep 13 (UNI) Government has nominated Minister of State for Industry Ashwani Kumar to an Empowered Sub-Committee of the High Level Committee on Manufacturing (HLCM).

The Empowered Sub-Committee will monitor the follow up action on implementation of the decisions taken by the HLCM and will be responsible to formulate, review, and approve policy papers and proposals for submission to the HLCM.

It will act as the main executive body of the HLCM and submit its periodical reports for consideration to the Prime Minister/HLCM, an officialstatement said here today.

The constitution of the Empowered Committee is a major initiative to speed up and give effect to major policy decisions required to enhance the competitiveness of Indian manufacturing and to increase its share in our GDP.

HLCM was formed under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister with the Minister of Commerce and Industry, Finance Minister, Minister of the sub-sector concerned, Deputy Chairman Planning Commission, Chairman Economic Advisory Council, Principal Secretary to Prime Minister, and National Manufacturing Competitiveness Council (NMCC) Chairman V Krishnamurthy as its members.
