Unnayan Parishad to develop red laterite zone
Midnapore, Sep 12 (UNI) The Paschimanchal Unnayan Parishad(PUP) will include developmental projects of the Red Laterite Zone, prepared by IIT Kharagpur's Rural Development Department, in the country's next Five Year Plan.
The Parishad would develop the zone consisting of 74 blocks of West Midnapore, Bankura, Purulia, Birbhum and Burdwan distrits of West Bengal.
The IIT has prepared a Perspective Development plan for the next 20 years, the Parishad members said.
IIT have already submitted the Action Plan with a map of the ground water resources, Unnayan Parishad Minister Susanta Ghosh said here today.
The main thrust of the project would be on Waste Land Management, Irrigation, Forestry and Fisheries, they added.
''Immediately after the Parishad gets the report, it would be hand it over to the Planning Commission,'' Susanta Ghosh said.
The Parishad has already started preliminary infrastructure building process with Rs 75 Lakhs, the Minister said.
