Three cops injured in an accidental blast in Orissa
Malkanagiri, Sep 12 (UNI) At least three policemen including an Inspector were injured in an accidental blast while undergoing training on how to defuse explosives at Chatiguda Dam near here, police said today.
They said the explosive suddenly went off during the training programme yesterday, Superintendent of Police of Malkingiri Yatindra Koyal said.
The injured -- Reserve Inspector Sarat Chandra Mishra, constables Debasis Narendra and Basanta Nayak -- were taken to MKCG Medical College Hospital at Berhampur - nearly 400 km from this headquaters town - as facilities were lacking in the local hospital where they were admitted first.
This tiny town close to the Orissa - Andhra Pradesh border, has been a Maoist hub for years. Police along with CRPF and the elite Greyhound squads conduct routine training and combing operations in the area against possible attacks from left ultra.
