Sugar prices rise on higher demand

Mumbai, Sep 12 (UNI) Wholesale spot sugar prices rose on higher demand, traders at the Bombay Sugar Merchants' Association today said.

Sugar of ex-mill small and medium grades hiked by Rs 15 each per quintal on increase of fresh demand.

Sugar of small and medium grades went up by Rs 11 and Rs six per quintal on reduced stock supply.

Following were the spot sugar wholesale rates per quintal: Small grade: Rs 1,767/1,801, medium grade: Rs 1,791/1,841.

Ex-mill: small grade: Rs 1,750/1,770, medium grade: Rs 1,780/1,808.
