Rupee recovers four paise, closes at Rs 46.27/28/USD

Mumbai, Sep 12 (UNI) Rupee today grew strong by four paise to close up at Rs 46.27/28 per US Dollar compared to Rs 46.30/31 per US Dollar on Monday, as the liquidity position grew strong as RBI purchased Dollar in the early session and unwinded the long standing position once Rupee grew strong in the later part of the trading session, a trader in the money market said.

Earlier, the Rupee opened at Rs 46.34/35 per USD and during the mid-morning session traded at 46.33/34/US Dollar.

RBI today fixed the Reference Rate at Rs 46.34/US Dollar compared to the previous rate of 46.27 per USD on Tuesday.

The six month forward premia was fixed high at 1.46 per cent and the one year forward premia was also fixed high at 1.41 per cent.

The Rupee however showed a mixed performance against other currencies. In comparison to Euro Rupee closed down at Rs 58.75 (58.70), against Pound Sterling it was down at Rs 86.56 (86.15) and against Yen it closed up at Rs 39.30 (39.37).
