Police responsible for conflict in Guna: Prahlad

Guna, MP, Sep 12 (UNI) Bharatiya Jan Shakti General Secretary Prahlad Patel today held police inaction responsible for conflict-like situation that arose in this district's Konyakala village recently.

Mr Patel met tribal families related a rape victim in Danda village today.

Hundred of tribals had unleashed an attack on village residents on September 10 after police did not register a case following the rape of a tribal woman and murder of her child.

Mr Patel said transfer of Superintendent of Police Vivek Sharma was not enough in the matter.

''The Collector is equally responsible and must be removed,'' he asserted.

After tribals launched the attack, police reached the spot to control the situation. However, the police team was attacked and Station House Officer Virendra Sapre was killed.

During police firing, villager Nenkaram Bheel was killed.

Additional police force was deployed in view of tension prevailing the area after the incident.

Mr Sharma has been relieved and attached to police headquarters.

District Incharge Minister Rustam Singh visited the village to take stock of the situation.
