Police raid to nab absconding DIG

Patna, Sep 12 (UNI) Police today raided the office and the residence of DIG(rail) Ajay Verma, who has been evading arrest in connection with a case of misusing his official position.

Police said the raid was conducted following reports of Mr Verma resuming his duty yesterday amid pendency of arrest warrant against him, issued by the Chief Judicial Magistrate of Hajipur.

Meanwhile, DIG(Muzaffarpur), Suneet Kumar said a special team had been constituted to arrest the absconding police officer. A copy of warrant had also been made available to Patna police for its execution, he added.

Earlier, proclamation notice was pasted on the walls of the residence of Ajay Verma in Rajendra Nagar locality here on September 2.

A retired school teacher had lodged an FIR in Town police station in Vaishali district on January 24 last alleging that the police officer had misused his position to mediate in his property dispute.
