Pak's water discharge into Kutch causes damage

Barmer, Sept 12: Apart from the floods, water discharged by Pakistan into Rann of Kutch has caused heavy damage to Border Security Force (BSF) posts and fencing in the border areas of this district.

A report enumerating the losses along with video recording prepared by Public Works Department has been sent to the Home Ministry.

According to sources, defence and BSF units in Chauhatan region stretching from Bakhasar to Gujarat sector have suffered heavy losses due to rains. The BKD post in Bakhasar sector to BSF units in Gujarat frontier have been damaged.

Sources said four to six feet water was already there in Rann of Kutch due to the heavy downpour. Apart from this Pakistan's release of canal water from 953 border post has resulted in more water into the region, worsening the situation.

The road between Bakhasar and Gujarat sector has been totally damaged which is causing inconvenience to patrolling soldiers.

Sources said the roads were built at a cost of Rs 10 crore last year only. Now they have been totally damaged due to rains.
