Bhopal, Sep 12 (UNI) Union Minister of State for Home Shriprakash Jaiswal today said the Centre is ready for CBI inquiry into Ujjain's Madhav College Professor H S Sabharwal's death in student violence.

''The Centre has no problem for CBI inquiry into Prof Sabharwal's death provided the state government recommends it,'' Mr Jaiswal, who was visiting flood-affected areas of the state along with Union Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Suresh Pachouri, told reporters here.

He said the academic world was in a state of shock over the incident.

On allegations and counter-allegations between the ruling BJP and the opposition Congress over the issue, he said politics should not be played over the issue.

Rejecting allegations of inadequate relief for flood-affected, he said the Centre had gone beyond set parameters to provide assistance.

Mr Jaiswal said the calamity fund meant for next financial year was also released to enable the government to deal with the situation.

He said the sit-in staged by BJP MPs in New Delhi over the issue was politically motivated.

Expressing displeasure over the irregularities in providing relief to the flood-affected, he hoped that the government would take measures to ensure that relief reached the targeted.

Mr Jaiswal announced an additional relief of Rs 50 crore for flood-affected besides Rs 246.67 crore already provided. Eight lakh litre kerosene and 5,000 metric tonne foodgrains has also been provided.

Welcoming the spontaneous anti-naxalite 'Salwa Judum' in Chhattisgarh, the Minister took a dig at the Chhattisgarh government for failing to discharge its responsibility to protect people.

At the same time, he praised the Andhra Pradesh Government for handling the menace effectively, claiming that 80 per cent problem had been solved in that state.

Expressing concern over rising incidents of terrorism in the country, he described the allegations regarding failure of intelligence agencies as baseless.

However, he underscored the need for restructuring and strengthening them.

The Centre was providing every possible assistance to state governments to tackle the menace.
