NDC sub-committee on panchayati raj to meet tomorrow

New Delhi, Sep 12 (UNI) The Empowered Sub-Committee of the National Development Council on Financial and Administrative Empowerment of Panchayati Raj Institutions will meet here tomorrow.

The Sub-Committee will review the action taken on the decisions of the last meeting and discuss, among other things, preparatory arrangements for the implementation of the backward regions grant fund, steps taken to concretise district planning through district planning committees and the devolution index.

The sub-committee held its first meeting on June 12 this year after being reconstituted.

It is required to meet at least once in every quarter.

It is headed by the Panchayati Raj Minister and has as its members the Ministers of Rural Development, Finance, Social Justice and Empowerment and Tribal Affairs, the Planning Commission Deputy Chairman and Chief Ministers of Assam, Bihar, Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab and Rajasthan.
