Metal prices declines on thin buying support

Mumbai, Sep 12 (UNI) Metal prices declined on thin buying support together with the London Metal Exchange, traders at the Bombay Metal Exchange today said.

In the ferrous segment (per quintal), copper utensils, brass utensils and aluminium utensils eased by Rs 200 each per quintal on increased offers by stockists.

In the non-ferrous category (per quintal), copper wire bars and zinc slab drifted lower by Rs 400 and Rs 200 per quintal respectively on lack of fresh demand. But aluminium ingots and lead ingots rose by Rs 50 and Rs 200 per quintal respectively on reduced stock supply.

But tin slab and nickel cathode prices fell by Rs six and Rs five per kg respectively on sluggish demand.

Following were the spot metal prices per quintal: Ferrous metals: Copper heavy - Rs 37,000, Copper utensils - Rs 32,300, Brass utensils - Rs 22,700, Brass cuttings - Rs 26,000 and Aluminium utensils - Rs 10,800.

Non-ferrous metals: Copper wire bars - Rs 40,900, Aluminium ingots - Rs 13,100, Zinc slab - Rs 19,000, Lead ingots - Rs 6,800, Tin slab - Rs 529 (per kg) and Nickel cathode - Rs 1,670 (per kg).
