Kolkata, Sept 12: Despite some rain last evening, Kolkatans continued to bear the wrath of a hot and sultry climate today.

However, Met officials have forecast a generally cloudy sky with a heavy downpour late in the evening.

They also said heavy rains would occur at most places of sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Tripura and Bihar in the next 24 hours.

Besides, there will be slight rainfall at a few isolated places in the Andaman and Nicobar islands, they added.

Though the city didn't face the scorching heat of the sun, it suffered high humidity which stood at 97 per cent.

The maximum temperature recorded was 32 degree Celsius and the minimum 26.6 degree Celsius.
