Mangalore, Sep 12 (UNI) Mangalore Chemicals and Fertilisers Limited (MCF) has paid an ''advance water tax'' of Rs four crore, to be adjusted towards water bills payable by the company, for the Mangalore City Corporation's second vented dam project.

According to a release from the MCF, the company had handed over the cheque to the city Mayor.

Meanwhile, Mayor Ashraf said the vented dam would be constructed across river Netravathy at Thumbe, near here, at an estimated cost of Rs 40 crore. Under the Asian Development Bank's (ADB) urban development programme, 800 km pipeline had been laid. He had also urged the Deputy Chief Minister to release Rs 30 crore towards the project as the MCC would bear the rest of the cost.
