Manipur CM concerned about several agitations in the state
Imphal, Sep 12 (UNI) Manipur Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh has announced that his government will not bow under pressure.
The Chief Minister, speaking at a function at Imphal today said, ''Life in Manipur is peaceful. Strike, economic blockades, agitations are regular affairs.'' He further said Governor Dr S S Sidhu also expressed concern over a large numbers of agitations in the state.
Mr Ibobi said he understands that the election is not far but the government would not concede to any demands, which would later create trouble for the next government.
The aided teachers were demanding benefits and had launched fast unto death, he said.
He further appealed to the people to allow the government to perform its duties.
The Chief Minister further said,''The ISKCON blasts in Imphal on August 16 was an unprecedented as such a thing has never happened in the past. The police is inquiring into the blast.'' The All Manipur Muslims Organisation has also called economic blockade demanding reservation in order to pressurise the government.
